Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from an ethnically diverse background. Her father Elroy Fernandez comes originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. There are two older brothers as well as two younger brothers. Because of the turmoil in Lanka, her parents relocated to Bahrain in the early 1980s. When she finished her studies in Bahrain her family was granted an Scholarship to pursue a degree at Sydney's University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's master's degree in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. In order to further her interest in the world of languages, cultures and languages she enrolled in the Berlitz schools of languages where she was able to master Spanish and also improve her French as well as Arabic. The crown was awarded to Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th of 2006, and then participated in Miss Universe 2006. Following her winning the 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone stepped into the world of television as host of a TV show on Sri Lankan Business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of and badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew her life in Bangalore and is a native of Copenhagen. Padukone played in the national championships as an teen, but she gave her sports career up in order to be a model. Padukone is born in Mangalorean background, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Her ancestors come from the town of Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state of India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an international champion in badminton who has retiring. Her mom is a travel agent.
